Hello! Every client deserves to know who their physician is, their story, and their qualifications.
I believe the physician-patient relationship, or healer-client partnership, is a collaborative effort. We will work together, to support you in your healing journey.
So allow me to introduce myself!
Early Years
I finished my schooling at the prestigious Reading School and began my studies in Medicine (MBBS) at Barts and the London, University of London. During my time at Medical School, I intercalated with a BSc in Global Public Health and Primary Care, with lectures from world-leading experts such as Sir Michael Marmot and Prof Allyson Pollock.
Medical Training
After graduating from university, I completed the 2-year Foundation Programme in Wales, with experience in Colorectal and General Surgery, Respiratory Medicine and Diabetes and Endocrinology Medicine, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Accident and Emergency Department.
During this time I completed a 2-year Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education at Cardiff University.
I was also the primary author of a research paper in an internationally-renowned medical journal.
I then spent 4 years developing and honing my skills in a variety of specialties, to broaden my knowledge and skill base. I was a clinical fellow in Cardiology in a tertiary centre, as well as gaining significant further experience in Emergency Medicine and a variety of medical specialties.
At the beginning and through the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was promoted to working as a Medical Registrar in Acute Medicine and on-calls. I was covering the entire hospital as the senior-most medical doctor. With a career as an internal medicine specialist beckoning, and several offers over successive years to enter specialty training, I realised I had to change course.
Calling to holistic approach
My instincts, values, knowledge and experiences made me realise that I am a holistic generalist, at heart, and this was my true calling! Not only that, it was the right thing to do and the best approach for healing of patients. All the research studies and scientific evidence of the last 20-30 years on integrated physiological systems, mind-body-gut interactions, and psychoimmunonueurology, point to the importance of a holistic approach.
This led me to embarking on a career as a General Practitioner. I completed my 3 year training in Leicester and became a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).
I was keen not to pay mere lip service to a holistic approach, and felt I needed to go outside of the conventional medical curriculum to learn holistic healthcare.
I studied - and integrated into my practice - the RCGP affiliated Lifestyle Medicine course, founded by Dr Rangan Chaterjee. I am now board-certified as a Lifestyle Medicine practitioner.
I have trained at the College of Medicine and Healing Arts, having completed a Herbal Medicine and Naturopathy Diploma.
I have also been training in body-based psychotherapy, learning Somatic Experience Therapy with SOSI Internationale - a modality based on the lifetime work of international experts Dr Peter Levine and Dr Stephen Porges. I am now an advanced trainee practitioner.
I am also qualified as a Functional Medicine Practitioner with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM).
I have integrated all of the above into my work, and excited to implement my knowledge and skills in my passion for healing and wellbeing for all.
“The greatest medicine of all is to teach people how not to need it.”
